The Reading Specialist Directory ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using this site, you agree to the practices described here.
From families creating an account: We collect your email address and a password (stored securely via Supabase Authentication — we never see your password in plain text). We do not collect payment information from family accounts.
From specialists submitting a listing: We collect the information you provide in the intake form, which may include your name, email address, phone number, website URL, city, state, degree, credentials, specialties, teaching approaches, session format, availability, session rate, a profile photo, and a short bio. This information is displayed publicly on your directory listing.
From the contact form: We collect your name, email address, your role (family, specialist, or other), and the content of your message. This information is received via Netlify Forms and used only to respond to your inquiry.
Automatically collected information: Our hosting provider (Netlify) may collect standard server logs including IP addresses and browser information. We do not currently use analytics cookies or third-party tracking tools.
We use the information we collect to operate the directory, display specialist listings to families, allow families to contact specialists, respond to inquiries, and communicate with specialists about their listings. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Listing data and account information is stored in Supabase, a cloud database platform based in the United States. Contact form submissions are received through Netlify Forms. Both services maintain their own security and privacy practices; we encourage you to review Supabase's Privacy Policy and Netlify's Privacy Policy for more information.
Profile photos uploaded by specialists are stored in Supabase Storage and are publicly accessible via a direct URL as part of your directory listing.
This site uses Google Fonts to load typefaces. Google may collect basic request data (such as your IP address) when fonts are loaded. We do not use Google Analytics or other third-party tracking services at this time.
You may request that your account or listing be deleted at any time by contacting us at hello@readingspecialistdirectory.com. We will remove your information from the directory within a reasonable time. Specialists can also request updates to their listing information at any time by contacting us directly.
This site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The directory is intended for use by adult families and reading professionals.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

By accessing or using The Reading Specialist Directory ("the Directory," "the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
The Reading Specialist Directory is an independent online directory connecting families with independent reading specialists and tutors. We provide a platform for specialists to list their services and for families to find and contact them. We are not an employer, agency, or referral service. We do not hire, vet, certify, endorse, or supervise any specialist listed in the directory.
Listings in the directory must represent an individual, independent reading specialist or tutor. Listings may not represent a business, company, school, organization, or team of educators. By submitting a listing, you confirm that you are an individual offering services independently, and that all information you provide is accurate and up to date. Submitting false or misleading information may result in removal of your listing without refund.
Specialists are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information in their listings, including credentials, availability, contact information, and rates. The Reading Specialist Directory does not verify credentials or claims made in listings. Families should conduct their own due diligence before engaging with any specialist.
Families may create a free account to access specialist contact information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree not to share your account with others or use it in any way that violates these terms.
You agree not to use this site to harass, spam, or mislead other users; to scrape, copy, or reproduce directory content for commercial purposes; to submit false listings or reviews; or to interfere with the operation of the site. We reserve the right to remove any content or account that violates these terms.
Premium listings require a paid subscription. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. All sales are final — we do not issue refunds for premium listing fees, including for partial billing periods. You may cancel your premium subscription at any time, and your listing will remain active until the end of your current billing period. Free listings are available at no charge and may be submitted or removed at any time.
The Reading Specialist Directory provides this platform as a connection tool only. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, outcomes, or conduct of any specialist listed in the directory, or for any interactions between families and specialists that occur through or after use of this site. Your use of the directory and any engagement with specialists listed here is entirely at your own discretion and risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Reading Specialist Directory and its owner shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the site or reliance on any listing.
The content on this site — including text, design, and graphics created by The Reading Specialist Directory — is our property and may not be reproduced without permission. Specialist listings remain the property of the individual specialist.
We may update these Terms of Use at any time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
The Reading Specialist Directory does not endorse, recommend, employ, or supervise any specialist listed in this directory. Listings are self-submitted by individual professionals and are not independently verified by us.
Credentials, certifications, and availability are reported by specialists themselves. Families are encouraged to verify credentials directly with the specialist before beginning any services, ask for references, and use their own judgment in selecting a provider.
The directory is provided as a convenience for connecting families with independent reading professionals. We are not responsible for the quality of services provided, outcomes of tutoring or specialist services, or any disputes that arise between families and specialists.
